If you felt like commissioning a custom sword, we have nothing by praise for Nielo Sword in the Czech Republic. Kult of Athena sells his off the shelf swords but he does excellent custom work for a very good price point. Pictured here is an English basket hilted broadsword with quillons that was commissioned for less than $700 delivered from Europe. It’s based on a piece in the Royal Armouries but very similar hilts have been found in the excavations in Jamestown.
If you’re going the custom made route and want to invest in a good period correct sword, we would recommend getting it custom made to fit you.We have used a group of blacksmiths here in CT - Dragon's Breath Forge. They do their research and get it right.
